Offering: Photographic works by Anita Dube

Curated by Lakeeren Gallery in collaboration with the Kala Ghoda Association

This exhibition complements Dube’s exhibition eye, etc., at Lakeeren Gallery that exhibits original wall drawings of the artist’s votive eye. In these photographs from 2000 Dube captures the devotional found object within a photographic lens that emphasises a “punctum” moment allowing a kind of piercing that shoots out like an arrow grabbing the viewers attention. Defined by Ronald Barthes this frozen time caught on the camera, presents a “puncturing” acts of momentary pleasure (jouissance) or disturbances that might have not been previously viewed that suddenly become visible. This show exhibits all four works from this series including Sea Creatures, Remembering Eklavya, Via Negativa and Offering.
