Announcement: Competition Winner

FOCUS is pleased to announce Devpriya Mohata as the winner of the NGO profiling competition, held in collaboration with United Way Mumbai during FOCUS Photography Festival 2017.

Devpriya documented one day in the life of NGO Children Toy Foundation and her photographs will form an important part of their documentation archive which will help the NGO illustrate and promote their activities and actions. Devpriya impressed the jury by the sensitivity with which she photographed her subjects, maintaining a quality that reflected high professional standards.

As the winner of the NGO profiling competition, Devpriya will go on to experience a short term, hands-on internship with the eminent architectural, landscape and travel photographer Bharath Ramamrutham.

“On graduating from Light and Life Academy in Ooty, Devpriya moved to Mumbai to pursue photography. Bitten by the travelling bug quite young and having travelled extensively around the globe, she picked up the camera as a means to memorialize every second of her travels. She has a keen interest in areas of Portrait and Documentary Photography.

Having a strong inclination towards narrative-driven work, she looks for beauty and simplicity in the chaotic world. Her approach, often premeditated, is also open and receptive to natural human emotion. She draws inspiration from other artists’ works and creative minds from different walks of life. In her spare time, she loves to experiment with old film cameras and learn about alternative photographic processes.”
